UNCLE MAN'S RESTAURANT

History

OUR STORY

UNCLE MAN'S BEGINNING

The first restaurant had its humble beginnings as a roadside stall, known as a “warung,” founded by Othman Daud, affectionately referred to as Uncle Man, and his wife Zainun Binti Saadon in the early 1990s until 1996.

The original ‘warung’ was situated at KM 5 Parit Raja, along Jalan Temenggong Ahmad in Muar, Johor, Malaysia, under the name Warung Parit Raja.

Tragically, the closure of Warung Parit Raja came with the passing of Zainun in 1996.

The restaurant was later resurrected as Warisan Uncle Man, often shortened to Uncle Man’s, by Othman’s fourth son, Najib Othman.

Najib inaugurated the inaugural Uncle Man’s restaurant on June 5, 2014, along Karangahape Road in Auckland, New Zealand. At present, there are four branches of Uncle Man’s restaurants situated across Auckland, New Zealand. The management of these branches has transcended three generations and is currently overseen by Najib’s offspring.
